Elizabeth "Nana" Bethune Forbey, 92

Elizabeth "Nana" Bethune Forbey, age 92, a resident of Columbia and formerly of Charleston, passed away April 22, 2017, at The Bluffs in Columbia MO.

Nana was born March 14, 1925 in Bertrand Mo the daughter of William and Lulie Spencer Bethune. She was united in marriage to F. M. Forbey Jr. on December 13, 1947 in Blodgett, MO. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2001.

Nana was a career mom, grandmother and hug giver. She worked several jobs outside the home through the years but her priority was her family and showing love to others. She graduated high school in Diehlstadt MO and lived in several cities throughout the state but always called Southeast Missouri her home.

She is survived by her children and spouses; Deborah Forbey, Independence, MO, Julie Rowden (Rick) , Columbia, MO; Five loving grandchildren; Juli Beth Aber, Sara Kirchhoff (Keith), Bekah Jouret (Michael), Caleb Rowden (Aubrey), Keyanna Barr and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters, Charles Bethune, Cecil Lee (Dick) Bethune, Phinas Bethune, Ora Bethune, Gertrude Bethune, Willie Watson, Gene Bethune, Spencer Bethune, and Lucille Carr.

There is no visitation.

Friends may assemble for graveside services at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Charleston, MO on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.

There will be celebration of her life at C2 Church (Christian Chapel), 3300 S Providence Rd. Columbia, MO on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Christian Chapel Academy, 3300 S. Providence, Columbia, MO 65203 or Messiah Lutheran, 613 S. Main Street, Independence, MO 64050.
