EMMA LEE CHAPPELL JOHNSON, age 69, died Monday, November 29, 2021, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Born December 17, 1951, at Charleston, MO, to the late Milton Chappell and Geneva Moore. Emma was a homemaker, she loved being outside in her flowerbeds, going to yard sales and going shopping. Emma was a babysitter of all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she loved spending time with them. She really enjoyed talking to her aunt, who was also her best friend, Ella Mae, on the phone. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and caring soul, who will be truly missed.

On June 14, 1991, she married the love of her life, Charles Johnson, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are her children, Fredrick (Rochelle) Chappell of Sikeston, MO; Felix Chappell, Antonio (Schmekia) Chappell and Teressa Chappell all of Charleston, MO; five brothers, Floyd, Norman, Morris, James, and Milton Chappell Jr.; eight sisters, Elizabeth Murray, Sharon Horrell, Jeannette Chappell, Angela Nicholson, Arthea Elzie, Dechia Chappell, Gwen Chappell and Ella Rice; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Chappell, Curtis Chappell, Frank Chappell and Alfreddie Pettigrew; one sister, Ruth Chappell; one daughter-in-law, Shalonda Chappell; one granddaughter, B'Anca Chappell and one great grandson, Zyirr Flye.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the C.F. Bowden Civic Center. Rev. Darren Horrell will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Michael Coleman, Preston Moore, Marquel Murray, John Hines, Andre Moore and Latron Chappell.
