Obituary

Thelma "Emogene" Dollar, 88, a long time resident of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.  She was born Dec. 12, 1928 in Conway, Arkansas to the late John Alexander and Etta (Wiley) Hill.  A homemaker most of her life, she had also worked at Rodchester's and Susie's Bake Shop.  She was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ.  On March 3, 1945 she was married to Boyce M. Dollar in Sikeston and he preceded her in death Jan. 10, 1995.  She is survived by one son David Dollar of Chaffee; and 2 daughters, Saundra Dollar of Sikeston and Susan Tanner of Florence, Alabama.  Eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.   Besides her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by 1 son, Paul Dollar, 1 grandson, Tim James, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.  At her request, she has been cremated.   There will be a memorial service at Shady Acres Church of Christ, Saturday, Sept. 2.  Visitation will be from 1:00  until 3:00 pm.  and the memorial service will begin at 3:00 pm.  Johnny Hester, minister at Matthews Church of Christ will officiate and her grandson-in-law, Richard McGill will provide the eulogy.   The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made in her honor to the Red Cross  for disaster relief for the hurricane and flood victims in Texas.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at blanchardfuneral.com.
