Obituary
HENRY ERVIN CATES, age 91, a resident of Charleston died Sunday, January 20, 2013, at 5:30 a.m. at the Charleston Manor.
He was born March 12, 1921 in Doniphan to the late John Henry and Eliza May Belcher Cates. He had lived in Charleston most of his life and worked for Leather Black Farms until his retirement.
On July 5, 1941 he married Violet Marie Simmerman who preceded him in death on April 5, 2007.
Surviving are one son and daughter in law, Carl and LaDonna Cates of Charleston, two daughters Violet Marie Cates and Naoma Fay Cates both of Charleston; three grandchildren, Todd Cates, Cory Cates and Carla McMikle; 7 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Three brothers, Earl Cates, Jearl Cates and Charlie Cates, and one sister, Ethel Kuykendall, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2012, at the McMikle Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. Bill Bradley of Charleston will officiate.
Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Lanie Black, Larry Powell, Jeff Beeson, Tonya Beeson, Vickie Ice, and Jeff Johnson.
