FLORENCE EMMA ROBINSON POE, age 112, died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center. Mrs. Poe was born August 24, 1897 in Farmington, Missouri to the late William "Wid" and Malinda Caroline (Jones) Robinson and was raised in Canalou, MO. She lived most of her life in Charleston prior to moving to Cape Girardeau in 1988. She was a resident of the Ratliff Care Center and was of Pentecostal faith.
She was a member of the Super Centenarians, and until her death, was the oldest living person in the state of Missouri.
On February 28, 1917 she married Lester H. Poe who preceded her in death on October 4, 1957.
She is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Delbridge of Breese, IL, Iris Vivian "Tod" Jackson of Cape Girardeau, and Marilyn "Peggy" Laird of Valparaiso, IN, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.
One daughter, Wanda Fitzpatrick, 2 grandsons, 4 brothers and 4 sisters preceded her in death.
McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston will conduct visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Road Chapel in Cape Girardeau. On Friday, March 26, 2010, visitation will continue at 1:00 p.m. in the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston until the Funeral Hour at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Donny Ford of Cape Girardeau will officiate.
Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Richard Yanis, Steven Jackson, Michael Jackson, Terence Laird, Lynn Fitzpatrick, and Jonathan Fitzpatrick.
