Born April 15, 1916, in Diehlstadt, MO, to the late Matthew and Anna Clara Willman Ohmes, she attended school there graduating from Diehlstadt High School in 1934 where she was a member of the girls basketball team.  She was a lifelong member of St. Henry Catholic Church.

On May 11, 1937, she married Roland "Kayo" Gentry, who preceded her in death on September 28, 2004.

She is survived by one son, David (Becky) Gentry of Jackson; three grandchildren, Brad (Susan) Hequembourg of Charleston, Cheryl Hequembourg Brent (Parker Sykes) of The Villages, FL, and Mary Hequembourg (Mark) Johnson of Wilmington, NC.  She is also survived three great grandchildren, Finley Hequembourg (Haleigh Allred) of Charleston, and Riley Johnson and Ella Johnson of Wilmington, NC.

She worked part time for the Charleston School District as part of the kitchen staff.  A wonderful cook, she often prepared Sunday lunch for the family which almost always included her famous rolls and some sort of homemade pie.  She loved working in her yard and took pride in having a well-manicured lawn and no weeds.

Her great joy was her family.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, babysitting as often as possible and traveling to Jefferson City and Columbia to visit the Gentry family.  She and her husband Kayo were also loyal Bluejay supporters attending most home football and basketball games.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin Ohmes and her daughter and son in law, Julia Ann "Judy" and Terry Finley Hequembourg.
