GARLAND EAVES
JAMES GARLAND EAVES, Age 76, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, October 14, 2016, at
his home near Jackson, MO.
Born May 31, 1940, at Lubbock, TX, to the late Floyd Arthur Eaves and Mildred Pearl Tisdale
Eaves, he lived at Petersburg, TX about 35 miles southeast of Lubbock. At the age of 7, his
family moved to Medford, OR and returned one year later to Lubbock where he lived a number
of years and attended Texas Tech University. In 1981, he moved to Charleston, MO to own and
operate a mobile home park and from 1981 to 1985, worked in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia as the
head of the design and drafting department for I.A. Abasain, a structural steel fabricator. In 1985,
he returned to Missouri and settled in Cape Girardeau where he was employed with Blattner
Steel, a steel fabrication shop, as structural designer and detailer. A member of the Southside
Baptist Church in Charleston, MO, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at age 7 in a Baptist
Church and continued to serve and witness his entire life.
In 2005, he married Karen "Susie" Lovett Seay, who survives of the home near Jackson.
Also surviving are one son, Kevin (Linda) Eaves of Richmond, TX; one daughter, Lynn Eaves
(Jamie) Young of Katy, TX; five stepsons, Thomas Gideon of Nashville, TN, Chris Gideon of
Blodgett, MO, Chad (Courtney) Seay of Cape Girardeau, MO, Cory Seay of Branson, MO andClay (Jaianne) Seay of Gage, KY; his surviving sister, Myrna Clark of Dallas, TX.
Five grandchildren, Jennifer Eaves, Alyssa Eaves, James Young, Maggie Young and Blaire Young; 11 step grandchildren, Haley Gideon, Ramzy Gideon, Hannah Olga Gideon, Odin Gideon, Aubrey Gideon, Jacob Seay, Kaelyn Seay, Landry Seay, Chancey Seay, Truman Raffety and Maggie Raffety ; one great grandchild and a number of other relatives and friends survive.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Doug Eaves.
Visitation will be from noon until time for the memorial services at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, MO. Mike McKinney, pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Private burial will follow.
