"Checkbook Summers"
Garland Wayne Summers, age 64, a resident of Charleston, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born October 15, 1953, at New Madrid County, Mo., to late J.L. Summers and Mary Doris Crane Coulter, he had lived in Charleston most of his life where he owned and operated Checkbook's sound system and owned and operated Checkbook's BBQ. He was a member of Abundant Life in Christ Missionary Baptist Church.
On October 5, 2002, he married Deborah Ann Morrison, who preceded him in death November 1, 2011.
Surviving are his son: Richard Summers of Sikeston; daughters, Laurie (Nathan) Van Tuyl of Bertrand; Faith (Mike) Owens of East Prairie and Jaime (Corey) Loomis of Sikeston; two sisters, Martha Summers and Nancy Young of Sikeston; grandchildren, Rilen Summers, Dalton Tinnin, Cody Tinnin, Mason Owens, Bradley Campbell, Jaycee Loomis, Bret Loomis, Lacey Clardy, Brittnee (Cody) Russell, Mayva Owens and Austin Blasingain and Ashleigh Blasingain; great grandchildren, Conner, Kaiden and Lincoln Russell; also a number of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Dale Summers and Kenny Summers, and his stepmother, Delores Barnhill Summers.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Rodney Dunlap, will officiate.
Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Richard Summers, Corey Loomis, Michael Owens, Cody Tinnin, Mason Owens, Bradley Campbell and Jaycee Loomis.
