GARY GUERRA, age 65, a resident of Edwardsville, IL, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, January 5, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville.
He was born November 24, 1952 in Cairo, IL to Dr. Renatto F. "Doc" and Rosemary Moore Guerra. A 1971 graduate of Charleston High School, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeast Missouri State University. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston and was a former Knight of Columbus. Following his mother's death in 2008, he moved to St. Louis then to Edwardsville, IL as his health declined.
He is survived by one sister and brother in law, Dianne and Bill Toon of Glen Carbon, IL; two nephews and one niece; Jason (Bridget) Toon of Bannockburn, IL, Eric (Brittany) Toon and Kara (Michael) Wagner all of Collinsville, IL; his great nieces and nephews, Carter Wagner, Emma Wagner, Cooper Wagner, Olivia Toon and Sloane Toon; and one aunt, Virginia Moore of Baldwin City Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Mary Ann Guerra.
Visitation will be held St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Father David Dohogne, serving as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
