GARY DALE McDERMOTT, age 61, a resident of Charleston died at 3:10 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born August 8, 1948 in Mississippi County to the late Vausey Houston and Louella Byrd McDermott. He had lived in Mississippi County his entire life where he was employed in farming and attended Elm Street Baptist Church. He was a good father and good grandfather.

On April 4, 1970 he married Wanda Lee Stinnett who survives of the home.

Also surviving are one son and daughter in law, Travis Dale and Stephanie Howard McDermott; one brother, James McDermott of Charleston; two sisters, Virginia Riles of Hillsboro and Frances Barborek of Sikeston; and five grandchildren, Christopher Dale McDermott and Travis Joseph McDermott both of Charleston, Caitlyn Coleman, Jacob Brown, and Samantha Brown all of East Prairie.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon Houston "Bud" McDermott, Donnie McDermott, and Herman McDermott; and three sisters, LaVern Hammers, Jo Ann Cossey Shands, and Mary Jane Eggers.

Family and Friends will assemble at the McMikle Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009, where memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of the Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston, officiating.

Services are under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
