GARY LEE WILSON, age 70, a resident of Canalou, formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born November 3, 1942 in Charleston to the late Lee Elsworth and Gertrude Tyler Wilson. Following his graduation from Charleston High School he enlisted in the US Navy where he served at bases in various locations throughout the continental United States and overseas as an aircraft mechanic instructor. Retiring after 23 years of service with the U.S. Navy, he returned to Charleston in 1989 and moved to Canalou in 2007. He was of Baptist belief.
He was married to Sharon Bozeman who survives of Crystal Rivers, FL.
Surviving are one son, Chris Wilson of Canalou; one granddaughter, Taylor Wilson of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Beverly Gibson of Jackson and Lola Wilson of Canalou; five nephews. Phillip (Melissa) Wilson, Shaun Price, Sonny Price, Joni Seyer, and John Gibson; nine great nieces and nephews, Miranda Wilson, Taylor Gaines, Cadee Price, Skyler Price, Canaan Price, Elijah Price, Gracie Price, Airianna Price, and Steven Price.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Joe Wilson and David Wilson, and one sister, Eunice Payne.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 18, 2013 with Rev. Mike McKinney, pastor of the Southside Baptist Church in Charleston officiating.
Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct Graveside rites in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Interment will follow under direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Danny Morehead , Don Cook, Phillip Wilson, Shaun Price, Sonny Price, Gil Giltz, and Bruce Telker.
