GEORGE W. FURGERSON, Age 75, died Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at his home in East Prairie, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 1, 1945, in Mississippi County, MO, to the late William Franklin Furgerson and Annie Adline Newman Furgerson.   He had lived in East Prairie most of his life and was employed with the Bunge Corporation a number of years, serving as the union president.  He loved fishing and worked as a truck driver and farmer.  He made his own hoop nets for his many trips to the river to catch catfish. He was also a commercial fisherman and supplied fish to his family and friends, along with hosting many fish fries in his back yard.

On July 6, 1963, he married Audrey Henry, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are his children,  Karen (Louis) Basham of LaVergne, TN; Steve (Carrie) Furgerson and Michael (Jama) Furgerson all of East Prairie; his grandchildren, Brandon (Paula) Wheatley, Glen (Skyler Matthews) Wagner, Lydia Wagner, Tiffany (Shannon) Lawson, Barry (Savanah Russell) Furgerson; Brittany Furgerson, Cameron Furgerson, Shawn Furgerson, Cooper Furgerson, Alicia Bachfisch, Christina Garrett and Savanah Georgia Wilson; his great grandchildren, Adelynn Wheatley, Perseus Wagner, Anakin Wagner, Aiden Lawson, Keegan Lawson, Riley Furgerson, Preston Furgerson Blaine Shinn and Aerial Russell and Ella Graham; also a number of nieces, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Franklin Furgerson, Edward Manual Furgerson, Charles Bruce Furgerson, William Harold Furgerson and Dorothy Furgerson, as well as his granddaughter, Abigail Taylor Linhart.

Private family services will be held.
