GEORGE ROBERT HUFFSTUTTER, age 84, a resident of Monroe, LA, formerly of Charleston, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the Veterans Care Center in Monroe, LA.
He was born in Obion, TN to the late Robert Fulton and Annie Gamble Huffstutter. He enlisted in the US Air Force and served during the Korean conflict. During the time of his military service, he accepted the call into ministry. Following his discharge in 1953, he completed studies at Freed Hardeman College in Henderson, TN then moved to Southeast Missouri where for the next 34 years, he preached at the Churches of Christ in Charleston and Morley and taught Biology, first at Kelly High School and then in Charleston. He also served on the Board of Bootheel Youth Camp, and was Director for a period during the camps' inception and early years.
He is survived by three children, Bob (Rita) Huffstutter of West Monroe, LA, Jan (Larry) Page of Cherry Hill Village, CO, and Kim Huffstutter of Fairmont, GA; seven grandchildren, Jordan (Richard) Anderson, Claire (Hunter) Nussbaum, Carson, Cabot, and Corbin Huffstutter, Anne and Hana Lokey; two great grandchildren, Ava and Asher; also two sisters, Johnnie Mae Coffey of St. Louis, and Olivia Lee of Morley.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Charlotte Marie Collins Huffstutter; three brothers, James, Kelly, and Jack Huffstutter; one sister, Sue Richardson; and one grandson, Tyler Huffstutter.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled sometime in the summer of 2013 in Morley.
