Obituary
GEORGE WILSON SHELBY, age 26, a resident of Jefferson City formerly of Charleston and Columbia, died Friday, February 3, 2012 in Jefferson City.
He was born August 8, 1985 in Cape Girardeau to Roy Baker and Frances Wilson Shelby who survive of Phoenix, AZ.
George was a graduate of Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, had attended Westminster College in Fulton, and was currently a student at Metro Business College in Jefferson City. George had been a faithful volunteer of the Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia.
George is the grandson of Mary Kay Wilson of Paradise Valley, AZ, and Elizabeth Shelby of Milwaukee, WI. Also surviving are his sister, Kate Shelby Stull (Kevin) and beloved nephew Rob of Columbia; three maternal aunts Kitty Clark Richards (Craig) of Columbia, Kathy Hunt (Greg) of Cave Creek, AZ, and Mary Kay Bettes of Platte City; his paternal aunts and uncles, George Clay Shelby (Jamee) of Charleston, Janette Shelby Smith (Andy) of Nashville, TN, Lori Ann Shelby Malugen (John) of St. Louis and Jeffrey Joseph Shelby (Lisa) of Charleston; and his cousins, Sarah Richards and Amy Richards Perkins; Katie Hunt, Max Hunt and Maggie Hunt, Elizabeth Bettes, Gary Bettes and Ellen Bettes, Janice Shelby Kyramarios (Dino), Daniel Shelby (Crystal), James Shelby, Shelby Smith, Caroline Smith and Mack Smith, Elizabeth and Emily Malugen, Christopher Shelby, and Lexi Stockman.
George was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, F.M. Wilson, paternal grandparents, George U. Shelby Jr. and Janice Baker Shelby; and his cousin, Andrew Shelby.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm in the Missouri United Methodist Church in downtown Columbia.
