Obituary

Isaiah 45:17, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper";

Georgia Renee Straughter was born on December 15, 1959, to Ardell Walker Straughter and Sullivan Cassell in Charleston, Missouri. She gave up the ghost at Charleston Manor in Charleston, Missouri surrounded by family on February 22, 2024.

Georgia R. Straughter was the eleventh youngest of twelve siblings. Georgia was beloved, she loved the Lord, and she loved life. People who knew her called her kindhearted and nice. Georgia spoke her mind; she loved movies and television shows with her favorite being CSI. She could sometimes be feisty at times only if she felt threatened.

Georgia ran a daycare for a few years and worked at Boomland for 15 years before working at McDonald's.

Her children remember- "When I was younger me and my mom would get up on Saturday morning. We will go downtown to the secondhand store and look around and find cool stuff and movies to watch. We did this for a very long time then we started going to Sikeston Flea Market as well on Saturdays. We used to sit up talk about anything or go outside and sit on the porch when the weather was nice. I tell you she loved her coffee and Coke a cola over anything else. She joined the Prince of Peace church in Sikeston Missouri where she met pastor Rick Anderson and went there for some years."

Georgia is survived by brothers, Donnie (Gloria) Straughter and Marshall (Denise) Straughter; sisters, Margaret, Hassell, Ruby and Squeaky; sons, Donte Straugter and Olajuwon Straughter; daughter/niece Ebony Hamilton; four granddaughters, Danasha Bibbs, Dashiki Nelson, Sasha Bibbs, and Khadijah Nelson; one grandson, Kemuel T. Straughter.
