GERALDINE KEEFER

Geraldine Keefer, age 91, passed peacefully from this life into her eternal rest on September 3, 2020.

Geraldine (Ginger) was born in Baker, Oregon on November 9, 1928 to William and Josephine Knodel. Geraldine grew up in Oregon and California where she met her husband Merl at a Church of God in Long Beach, California where he was on active duty with the Navy during WWII. Merl grew up in this area and brought his wife to Sikeston where they made their home. Four children were born to them in Sikeston; Dan Keefer, Mike Keefer (Beverly), Nita Gilmore (Marvin) and Tamra Boyce (Todd). Preceding her in death was her husband Merl who passed on September 27, 2006.

Besides her four children, she is survived by 10 grandchildren; Patrick Keefer, Virginia Stevenson, Ginger McCord, Rose Knolhoff, Rebecca Keefer, Sarah Leonard, Bryan Keefer, Sally Baggett, Lydia Hicks and Sophie Boyce. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.

Geraldine was a Christian and taught her children to love God. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Geraldine was a true artist. Anything she created was well done and beautiful. She was known as an excellent cook, gardener and seamstress. She crocheted and quilted her own creations.

Geraldine will be laid to rest at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., next to her husband, Merl, with a private ceremony.

McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
