Samuel Grayling Nicholson of Winterville, Georgia, formerly of Charleston, joined his son Michael in Heaven on May 31, 2021.
Grayling was born on May 22, 1959 in Newport , Arkansas to Kenneth and Alice Nicholson, who both proceeded him in death. He was a member of Immanual Baptist church as a boy, where was saved and baptized. He played sports while attending Newport Public Schools and graduated from Newport High School in May, 1977. He was injured in a car accident as a young teenager which left him in lifelong pain, which took a toll on his overall health. He never let it get him down and continued to raise a family and work everyday to provide for them.
On August 25,1979, Grayling married his college sweetheart, Gale Pearson, who survives of the home.
They made their home in Charleston where they were blessed with 2 children. Michael Alton, who preceded him in death on Match 17, 1996 and Jennifer Lynne (Ryan) Smith of Winterville, Georgia. He was most proud of his two Grandsons, Timothy Ryan Smith, Jr (RJ) and Henry Alton Smith, both of Winterville, Georgia.
Grayling had worked as a police officer for 7 years and then for over 30 years at Lewis Furniture Company in Sikeston as a salesman and service technician until his health forced him into early retirement in 2018.
He was known for his smile, love of his family and especially for having the latest brag pictures of his Grandsons, which he always had at the ready on his phone.
He leaves behind a host of family, friends and acquaintances.
