Greta Sue Davis May 1, 1937-August 3, 2025

Greta Sue Davis, 88, from Sikeston, MO went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Born May 1, 1937, in Sikeston, MO. to the late Homer Humphrey and Francis Smith Humphrey. Greta was a proud Sikeston Alumni graduate in 1954. Immediately following her high school graduation, Greta married the late John L. Davis on August 23, 1955. Together they would have been married 70 years. Greta started her journey by moving to Newport, Rhodes Island to join her husband on the Navy base. They started their family in Rhode Island.

Greta and John then moved back to their hometown and continued their journey. Greta worked for many years for a local doctor in Sikeston. Greta then retired to be a full-time mother, wife, and caretaker. Greta helped her husband John with the business they started, Davis Marble Company.  Greta was no stranger to Sikeston. Greta was known to have weekly lunch dates with her friends and classmates. Greta was in several women's clubs and a social butterfly to the community.  Greta did not meet a stranger. Greta's smile and laughter could light up a room. Greta's favorite hobby was genealogy. Greta spent a great deal of time doing research on the family name. Greta was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend that will be dearly missed. Greta was the glue to her family.

Also surviving are her children, Cynthia Davis Groves, James (Marsha) Davis, Timothy (Janet) Davis, her grandchildren, Brandon (Michelle) Brown, Candace (Kelsey) Brown, Adam Davis, Eric Davis, Jason Davis, and Lindsey Bauer along with a number of great grandchildren, Ashlie (Jake) Owens, Kayla (Kendall) Clark, Brock Brown, Hanna Norman, Gavin(Cassidy) Brown, and Bailey Brown. Greta was a great great grandmother to Brayden, Camille, Adeline Owens, and Parker Brown.

In addition to her father and mother, she was proceeded in death by her sister Judy Davis and her son in law Jackie Groves.

Family and friends may assemble for committal services at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
