Harley Cooksey
Hubert Harley Cooksey, age 73, of Matthews, MO, died Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Born January 30, 1952, near Sikeston, MO, to the late Hubert F.M. Cooksey and Virlon Mae Wyatt Cooksey, he was a 1970 graduate of Matthews School. For a short time, he and his family lived in Aurora, IL, where he was employed with All Steel as a steel grinder. They later returned to Matthews where he was employed with the City of Matthews a number of years before going to work at Steward Steel in Sikeston as a machine operator. He was a past volunteer with the Matthews Fire Department.
On May 1, 1971, he married Karen Burns, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his daughters, Jamie (Gary) Keeton and Jessica Cooksey (Chris Cannon); his grandchildren, Kara Keeton, Kristy Keeton (Casey Moore), Harley Cooksey, Joseph (Davina) Cooksey and Tracey (Raynard) Duty-Wilson; nine great grandchildren; his brother, James (Brenda) Cooksey and a number of nieces and nephews; also, some very special family members, Robert (Ruth) Burns, Lenny Burns, Beth (Lewis) Russell, Cheryl (Steve) Finnerty and Dennis (Terry) Burns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Christine Beeson, Charlene Burns, Doris Graham and Ludene Burns.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Diehlstadt General Baptist Church in Diehlstadt, MO. Randy Burns will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Matthews Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.
