Obituary

Harold Vance Delk, Jr., age 78, a resident of Bertrand, died Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the Charleston Manor.

Born August 6, 1944, at Cairo, IL, to the late Harold Vance Delk, Sr. and Mary Cogdill Delk, he had lived in Bertrand most of his life. Harold was a lifelong member of the Bertrand United Methodist Church where he had served on the administrative board and proudly served as the church historian.  For many years he was employed with Monsanto and later as a clerk with Flag Stop Gas and Convenience store in Charleston.

Surviving is his sister, Gracie Delk Wilkerson; his lifelong friend, Roger Tesney; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Bobby Lee Delk, Jackie Dale Delk and Mary Delk Kirk.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Graveside services will immediately follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.   Rev. Paullester Walker, pastor of the Bertrand United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
