Harriet Marie Herwig Small, age 74, of East Prairie, formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY.

Born August 6, 1949, at Cairo, IL, to the late Harry William Herwig and Helen Marie Council Herwig, she was a graduate of Charleston High School.  Harriet lived in Charleston most of her life where she was employed with Brown Shoe Company for a number of years.  She later moved to East Prairie to be near her family and was employed with the East Prairie R-2 School District until her retirement.  Harriet was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church.

Surviving is her daughter, Shelia (Mike) Ledgerwood of Paducah, KY and Kevin (Christy) Small of East Prairie; her grandchildren, Rylyn (Kayla) Small, Taylor (Bronson) Owen, Coy Small, Dawson McGill, Samuel Small, Holton McGill and Ramsey Small; great grandson, Sawyer Cruz Owen; her sister, Katherine (Johnny) Leffler of Paducah; nephew, Matthew Leffler; niece, Amanda Leffler Futrell; great nephew, Jack Futrell; also, a number of cousins and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kaelyn Marie McGill and her sister, Kathleen Herwig Secoy.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  Her grandson, Rylyn Small, youth pastor at Elm Street Baptist Church, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, grandson in law, and nephew.
