HAZEL EURETTA SIMMERMAN, age 90, a resident of East Prairie, died Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.
Born February 23, 1927, in Tennessee to Laudy Forrest Chandler and Azalee Hall Chandler, she had lived in Mississippi County her entire life and had attended the St. James General Baptist Church in East Prairie.
She was married to Norbert Simmerman who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Thomas Simmerman of Russellville, AR; two daughters, Barbara Simms of Anna, IL and Nita Matheney of East Prairie; her brothers, Robert Chandler, Wilford Chandler, Forrest Chandler, Joe Chandler; sisters, Freda Quertermous, Zetta Bell, Martha Norris, Mary Jones and Debbie Chandler; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded by two sons, Robert Simmerman and Donnie Ray Simmerman; one daughter, Pomajean Simmerman; one grandson, Bobby Joe Counts; her stepmother, Elzetta Chandler; two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2017, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston. Rick Chambless, chaplain with VNA Hospice, will officiate.
Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
