Obituary

HELEN FERN ESTES BINGHAM, age 86, a resident of Charleston, MO, died Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born April 26, 1936, in Charleston, MO, to the late Asa Jacob Estes and Jewell Celeste Rogers Estes, she lived in Charleston most of her life.  Helen was employed at the Brown Shoe Company in Charleston for several years until she and her husband opened Bingham's Florist, located on Center Street in downtown Charleston. After closing the flower shop, she assisted her husband in the care of the building and property of the First Baptist Church for many years. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church.

Helen was first married to Edward Eugene George who was killed in an accident September 5, 1958.  She then married Lytle Brooks "Pete" Bingham on February 26, 1967 and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2012.

Surviving are her daughters, Christy (Matt) Pullen and Holly (Jason) Lovel all of Charleston; her stepson, Steve (Jennie) Bingham of Watkinsville, GA and stepdaughter, Kathy (Greg) Turner of Franklin, TN; her grandchildren, Dustin (Katelyn) Pullen, Lenzi (Ian) Householder, Austin O'Connor and Jacob Lovel; her stepgrandchildren, Brad (Deanna) Bingham, Stephanie (Reid) Langley, and Harrison Cheatham; her great grandchildren, Sawyer Brooks Pullen, Bingham Lee Householder, Lauren Bingham, Landen Bingham, Lawson Langley and Weston Langley; her brother, Jacob "Sonny" Estes, and her sister, Odetta Daniel; also, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by an infant son and her sisters, Viola LePage, Dorothy "Dottie" Sells and Shirley James.


Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Gerald Collier will officiate.


Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Matt Pullen, Jason Lovel, Dustin Pullen, Austin O'Connor, Jacob Lovel and Ian Householder.   Honorary Pallbearer will be Bingham Lee Householder.

In lieu of flowers, plants and gift items, the family requests memorials be made to The First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 442, Charleston, MO 63834
