Helen Joyce (Barnes) Brown, 82, and a life-long resident of this area, died at her home near Sikeston Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017.  She was born February 1, 1935 in Sikeston to the late Clyde James and Rubye (Vaughan) Barnes, Sr.   Helen was a retired Telephone operator and clerk with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.  She was married Dec. 27, 1975 to Paul E. Brown in Morehouse and he preceded her in death April 20, 1986.  She is survived by 1 son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Theresa (Landewee) Upton of Jasper, Indiana; 2 grandchildren, Katie and Luke Upton both of Jasper; 1 brother and 2 sisters-in-law; Robert "Bob" and Shirley Barnes ot Sikeston and Billie Barnes of Sikeston; 2 nieces, Alice Boyd and Donna Williams and 3 nephews, Clyde James "Jasper" Barnes, David Barnes and Mike Barnes.  1 brother, Clyde James "Jimmy" Barnes, Jr. preceded her in death Sept. 23, 2017.  Visitation will be at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 10:00 am  until time for funeral service at 1:00 pm.  Rev. Douglas Briete  pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will follow at Garden of Memories.  Active pallbearers will be Jamie Barnes, David Barnes, Evan Boyd, Carl Landewee Mike Spencer and Mike Barnes.  Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Boyd, Jasper Barnes and Brandon Barnes.  Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and online condolences may be shared with the family at blanchardfuneral.com.
