Helen Birdie Hazel, 92, died Sunday, Dec 1, 2013 at Sikeston Convalescent Center. She was born June 12, 1921 in Gilbert, Arizona to the late Lowell and Nellie (Brass) Stiles. Formerly a resident of Gilbert, Arizona she had been baptized in the canals there. She was married to Morris D. Stiles Dec. 31, 1939 in Yuma, Arizona and he preceded her in death Nov. 24, 2004. She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, James & Sabina Hazel of Bremerton, Washington and John & Janie Hazel of Sikeston; 1 daughter & son-in-law, Patricia & Hubert Bahr of Austin, Texas; 1 brother, Charles Stiles of Ft. Worth, Texas and 2 sisters, Ruth Giesel of Gilbert, Arizona and Alice White, of Paso Robles, California. 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday Dec. 5 at Blanchard Funeral Chapel with her grandson, Westley Hazel, minister of the Church of Christ in Savannah, Tennessee officiating.
