Helen Hunter Shelby Lee, 92, formerly of East Prairie, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at her home in Hattiesburg, MS.
Mrs. Lee was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church of Hattiesburg and a former member of the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church in East Prairie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Nadie Hunter Chapman; her first husband, Travis Wade Shelby; her second husband, Viverette Lee; her sister, Mary Ann Chapman and her great granddaughter, Averie Lynn Williams.
She is survived by her four daughters, Deborah Leigh Shelby Williams (David), Susan Winchester Carey (Billy), Boo Shelby McMurray (Dabney), and Mari Travis Graves (Jack); 13 grandchildren, Ashleigh Wieman, Elliott Williams, Travis Williams, Shelby Winchester, Riley Winchester, Ann Hunter Whitehead, Dab McMurray, Mary Wade Sanders, Maggie Lee, John Armistead Graves, III, Kathy Lowery, Chip Carey and Chase Carey; 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Private graveside services will be conducted at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston. Rev. Scott Moon, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Charleston Country Club.
Arrangements are under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
