Henrietta began teaching in one-room schools including Mounds, Yellow Dog, and Matthews before completing her 31-year career teaching first grade for 18 years at Doyle Elementary in East Prairie, retiring in 1983.  She was also part-owner and President until her retirement from Stanley Muffler, Inc., a company she and her husband founded in 1971.  She was an avid gardener and long-time member of the East Prairie Garden Club.  She could often be found working in her yard at home or at her lake house on Kentucky Lake. She taught all of her grandchildren to fish and water ski there and loved spending time with family and friends at the lake. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed preparing big family meals.  Being Gran and G.G. was her true calling.  Her grands and great grands were the lights of her life.
