Herbert Wessley Chappell, 79,  a life long resident of the East Prairie and Sikeston areas, died Saturday, Nov. 24, at his home in Sikeston.  He was born February 14, 1939 in East Prairie to the late Noah and Lorene (Cork) Chappell.  He was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ, was a graduate of East Prairie High School and had been employed at Lewis Bakery.  He was married Feb. 2, 1973 in East Prairie to Barbara Stanley and she survives of the home.  In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons, 5 daughters, 2 brothers, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at Blanchard Funeral Chapel.  The family also requests memorial contributions in his honor be made to Shady Acres Church of Christ.
