Obituary
HERMAN EUGENE MATNEY, age 63, a resident of Bertrand, died Monday, February 15, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born February 19, 1954 in Evansville, IN to Lige and Hazel Humphrey Matney. Moving to Columbia, MO in 1965, he had lived in Mississippi County since 2017. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and had worked as a driver for Freightways Trucking Company until his retirement.
On January 10, 2015 he married Barbara Heppe Matney who survives of the home.
Also surviving are four children, Stephanie (Michael) Mix of Barlow, KY, Jamie (Sara) Matney of Wickliffe, KY, Marrissa McLain of Morehouse, and Elisabeth (Roy) Rudd of Lilbourn; two brothers, Jerry (Barbara) Matney of St. Louis and Juilian (Joyce) Matney of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Shirley Stewart, Sheila (Harry) Cagle and Laura (Andy Hartje) Cagle all of Columbia; two half brothers, Richard Matney and Lige Jones; two half sisters, Lisa Matney and Bobby Pryor; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Matney and Phillip Matney; four brothers, Ronnie Matney, Jimmy Matney, David Matney, Cecil Matney; and one sister, Diane Cagle.
Services will be held privately at a later date under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
