Obituary

Homer Lee Baker, age 86, of Charleston, died Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born November 11, 1936, in the Deventer Community of Mississippi County, MO, to the late John Baker and Mattie Loflin Baker, he had lived in Mississippi County his entire life and was a 1955 graduate of Diehlstadt High School.    Homer went to work at Mid-Valley Irrigation in 1980 and remained there until his retirement in 2013.   He and his wife owned and operated the Lighthouse Gospel Theater in Charleston for many years.

His wife of 66 years, Carolyn Tousky Baker, preceded him in death on December 23, 2022.

Surviving are his children, Charles A. (Sheila) Baker of Sikeston; Gary (Debbie) Worthy of Charleston and Rand (Mary Jo) Worthy of Marston; his sister, Martha Jane (Travis) Jackson of Texas; his grandchildren, Ben (Jessica) Baker, Bryan (Liz) Baker, Gary (Jana) Worthy, Jr., Alisha (Paul) Brown, Joseph McCalister and Shannon McCalister; 17 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert, Cecil, Delmar, John, Bill and James.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 12:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  Tommy Smotherman will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Ben Baker, Bryan Baker, Gary Worthy, Jr., Conner Baker, Joey McCalister and Chase Worthy.
