IRENE BRANTLEY, age 91, a resident of Charleston, died Thursday, August 9, 2018, at the Charleston Manor.
She was born November 30, 1926 in Charleston to the late Perry and Lucille Morgan Butler and attended school in Diehlstadt. First employed with Brown Shoe Company, she later worked as a sales clerk at Wigdor's Department Store, had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge, and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher.
On August 2, 1946 she married William H. "Bill" Brantley Jr. who preceded her in death on June 22, 2007.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna (Tom) Halstead of Charleston; three grandchildren, Dr. Cully (Julie) Bryant of Sikeston; Jason (Elizabeth) Bryant of East Prairie and Tommy (Alison) Halstead of Portageville; eight great grandchildren, Tanner Bryant of St. Louis, Harper Bryant of Boston, Beau Bryant of Sikeston, Clay Bryant, McKenna Bryant, and William Brantley Bryant all of East Prairie; Alice Katherine Halstead and Shelby Grace Halstead of Portageville; and one sister in law, Ruby Butler of Diehlstadt.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers.
Private Graveside Services will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery on Friday, August 10, 2018, with Elijah Allen, Chaplain with Crown Hospice, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
