J.D. Moore, age 79, of Sikeston, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at John Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Loouis.
He was born February 11, 1933 in Sikeston to the late William D. and Dixie (Casteel) Moore.
He was united in marriage to Freda Holden Feb. 15, 1953 in Sikeston and she survives of the home.
He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army for 12 years and was a member of Ameerican Legion Henry Meldrum Post 114 in Sikeston and the Veterans of Foreighn Wars Post in Charleston and had been self-employed as a service station equipment installer and repairman.
In adition to his wife he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jiggs and Brenda Moore of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Rick Taylor of Sikeston; two sisters, Margaret Roberts of Shelley, Idaho and Martha Sue Foster of Vanduser.
Four grandsons, Jeremy Taylor, Ben Moore, Tyler Moore, Jacob Moore and one granddaughter, Jennifer Summers also survive as well as 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Rae Moore on May 8, 2002 and by 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
Graveside rites will be conducted at 11 am Monday, July 16 at the Matthews Cemetery with Rev. Alan Wollenburg, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church officiating.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Ben Moore, Jacob Moore, Tyler Moore, Jeremy Taylor, Jennifer Summers as well as Chester Kordahl, Bill Deane, IV, and Richard Howard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
