Obituary

Jacqueline Webb Graham Marshall, age 88, peacefully passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 at her home in Charleston.

She was born on November 27, 1928 in Paducah, Kentucky to the late Julia Cooke and Robert Simpson Graham. She graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School and continued her education at the University of Kentucky. Miss Graham returned home to Paducah where she lived until her marriage to Edgar Calvin Marshall, Jr. on April 29, 1950 at Broadway United Methodist Church.

After moving to Charleston Jackie quickly became part of the community. She loved to knit, cook, play bridge, read and mostly be surrounded by her family and friends. She was a member of the Charleston United Methodist Church, served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, a member of the Junior Study Club, the Molly French Garden Club and several bridge clubs. The joy of her life was serving the family she loved.

She is survived by four daughters and three sons. Mary T. and the late Keith Whitehead of Charleston, Sarah and Ed Hines of Brewton, Alabama, Edgar C. Marshall III of Charleston, Lucia and Don Hillenmeyer of Franklin, Tennessee, Madeline and Dr. Bill Haynie of Shreveport, Louisiana, James and Denise Marshall of Cape Girardeau and Karl Marshall of Charleston.

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren: Graham Whitehead of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Mary T. Whitehead of Nashville, Tennessee, Jacqueline (Whitehead) Willoughby of LaSalle, Illinois and Rabb Whitehead of Charleston, Edward Hines Jr. of Brewton, Alabama, Edgar C. Marshall IV of Madison, Mississippi, Katherine (Marshall) Brown of Naples, Florida, Lauren (Marshall) Taylor of Huntsville, Alabama and Aden Marshall of Charleston, Laura (Carter) Simpson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Madeline (Carter) Carter of Franklin, Tennessee, Brown Haynie of Shreveport, Louisiana, Frances (Haynie) Dugan of Shreveport, Louisiana, Sarah (Haynie) McIntosh of Austin, Texas, Will Haynie of New Orleans, Louisiana and Rebecca Haynie of Yosemite, California, Webb Marshall, Caroline Marshall and Emma Marshall all of Cape Girardeau, and Kate Marshall of Carrollton, Georgia. She is also survived by 24 great grandchildren.


Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one infant daughter, Laura Champion, one brother, Robert Simpson Graham, Jr., and two sisters June (Roy Stewart) and Johanne (Lewis Biggerstaff). Also preceding her in death is one grandson Blake Marshall.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Charleston. The Reverend J. Robert Webster, pastor, will officiate.

Graveside service will follow in the I.O.O.F. cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
