Obituary

REV. JAMES A. BOLDEN, age, 84, a resident of East Prairie, died at 10:25 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Rehab and Care Center in Murphysboro, IL.

He was born October 6, 1925, in Morley, Missouri to the late Samuel Allen and Lillie Mae Peridore Bolden. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII where he was stationed at Ardennes, Rhineland and in Central Europe. On December 19, 1944, was taken as a Prisoner of War and was held captive until April 2, 1945. Following his discharge from the Army, he moved to Indianapolis, IN where he was employed as a mechanic and was owner and operator of the DX Service Station. In 1961, he accepted the call into ministry with the Gospel Assembly Church and in 1963 he moved to East Prairie where he served as the Senior Pastor of the Gospel Assembly Church until his retirement in 2007.

On May 30, 1946, he married Edith Chastain who preceded him in death October 23, 1999. On November 9, 2000, he married Mildred Hafford who survives of the home.

Also surviving are: one son, Jerry Bolden of East Prairie; two daughters, Becky Bolden Dempsey and Patty Warford of East Prairie; one brother, Rudy Bolden of East Prairie; three sisters, Ruth Ditto and Virginia Givens both of East Prairie and Betty Turner Green of Sikeston; nine grandchildren, Rene Wilson, Shelly Dixon, Wesley Manning, Carla Bolden, Rachael Bolden, Pamela Owens, Tonya Simpson, Timothy Dempsey and Patty Warford; 23 great grandchildren, Alexis, Shea, R.J., Tyler, Quintin, Kyle, Katie, Jaxon, Caiden, Rebecca, Remington, Madison, Jaycee, Molly, Hunter, Ruthie, Makayla, James, Rebecca, Christopher, Carol and Sydnie.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamela Bolden and Bonnie Bolden Manning, one brother,Lawson Bolden, and one sister, Leola Totty.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Dwayne Jolley of Eldorado, IL and Encil Edmonds of Paducah, KY, will officiate

Interment will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Michael Simpson. Jimmy Ditto, Glenn Manning, Wesley Manning, Tim Dempsey and Gene Ditto.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jeff Ditto, Clyde Quick and Frank Widows.
