JAMES A. HOLMAN JR., age 47, a resident of East Prairie, died Thursday, January 2, 2014, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 4, 1966 in Sikeston to Peggy Galemore Holman who survives of Anniston and the late James A. Holman Sr. He had lived in Mississippi County most of his life where he had been employed as a truck driver with Darrell Abner and MRM in East Prairie. He lived in Jacksonville, AR for a short time working with HAZ-MAT cleanups then returned to Mississippi County where worked for Sam Oliver with the Levee District until declining health forced his retirement in 2011.

On September 23, 1986 he married Elizabeth Sterling who survives of the home.

Also surviving are three sons, Joshua (Lauren) Dunn of Paducah, KY, Casey (Katie) Holman and Daniel Sterling, and two daughters, Kayla Beth (Wayne) Branigan and Sarah Ann (Derek) Reeves, all of East Prairie; one sister, Sheila Babb of Anniston, nine grandchildren, Levi Holman, Navie and Chevy Reeves,Kyah and K.J. Branigan, Brandon and Damien Killion, and Logan and Blake Dunn; several nieces and nephews; two sisters in law, Christy Farmer and Missy (Daryl) Riley; and three special friends, Greg Bugg Sr., Corky Granger, and Colby Branigan.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Eva Galemore; his paternal grandparents, Aubrey and Daughty Holman; and one brother in law, William (Bill) Babb.

His request was to be cremated and no memorial services are scheduled at this time.
