JAMES EDGAR HOUSMAN, SR., Age 77, a resident of Anniston, died Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born May 3, 1939, in the Deventer Community of Mississippi County, MO, to the late Oscar "Pap" Housman and Bertie Kenney Housman, he had lived in St. Louis a number of years where he was employed with General Motors for over 30 years until his retirement. He then moved back to Mississippi County and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Surviving are four sons, Michael "Bones" (Wilma) Housman and James (Melissa) Housman all of Anniston; Mark Thomas of Fenton, MO and Shawn Housman of Dogwood; one brother, Louie Housman of Bertrand; five sisters, Betty Rankin of Tennessee; Dottie Mitchell of Morley; Evelyn Louise Ham of Maysville, NC; Nelda Jones of Charleston and Elise Smith of Anniston; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Veronica "Ronnie" Hornburg; two grandchildren, Jamie Housman and Joshua Briar Housman; one brother, Eugene Housman and one sister, Ida Mae Gonzalez.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Walter Bryars, will officiate. The United States Army and the Missouri Military Honors Program will follow with military rites.
Private burial will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
