JAMES ALTON 'JIMMY' JONES, Age 69, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at his home in Bertrand.
Born September 3, 1940, in the White Oak Community of Mississippi County, MO to the late James Andrew "Doc" and Eva Jewell Denning Jones, he had lived in Bertrand most of his life where he was a member of the First Baptist Church. At the age of 18, he went to work as a truck driver with the Hart Bread Company that later became the Bunny Bread Company, where he remained for over 38 years until his retirement.
On August 14, 1964, he married Martha Nell "Nellie" Jones, who survives of the home in Bertrand.
Also surviving are: two sons and one daughter in law, Donald and Lisa Jones of Kennett and Darrell Jones of Bertrand; five sisters, Pansy E. Terrell, Marie Crumley, Wanda Byrd and Linda Parr of Bertrand and Juanita Riddle of Dexter; seven grandchildren, Derek Jones, Blake Jones, Scott Jones, Matthew Jones, Joey Lynn Jones, Christy Jones and Ricky Johnson; four great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Lynn Jones, his daughter in law, Carla Jones, and one grandson, Michael Brent Jones.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2010. Rev. Ron Aldridge, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bertrand and Rev. Tom Bridges of Bertrand, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: his sons, Donald Jones and Darrell Jones and grandsons, Derek Jones, Blake Jones, Scott Jones and Matthew Jones.
