JAMES EDWARD McDERMOTT, Age 66, a resident of Charleston, died Friday, March 05, 2010 at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 10, 1943, at Cairo, IL, son of the late Bausey Houston and Louella Byrd McDermott, he had lived in Charleston his entire life and had been employed at Burkhart Foam Company at Cairo, IL for 34 years as a Lead Inspector. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church at Bertrand.
On February 3, 1967, he married Stella Sindle, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: two sons and daughters in law, Wesley and Amanda McDermott of Charleston and David and Bethany McDermott of Sikeston; two sisters, Virginia Riles of Hillsboro, MO and Frances Barborek of Sikeston; grandchildren, five grandchildren, Madyson McDermott and Cole McDermott of Charleston, Katelyn McDermott of East Prairie, Evan Ebert and Hannah McDermott both of Sikeston.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon Houston "Bud" McDermott, Donnie McDermott, Herman McDermott, Gary Dale McDermott and by three sisters, LaVern Hammers, Joan Cossey Shands and Mary Jane Eggers.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 8, 2010. Rev. Larry Kirby, pastor of Abundant Grace Church at Bertrand will officiate. Eddie Grooms, nephew, will offer a eulogy.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Brian Bickford, Calvis Wright, Todd Price, Doyle Price, T.W. McDermott and Anthony Moody.
