JAMES ROBERT HARRIS, Age 86, a resident of Miner, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Jefferson Barracks Medical Center in St. Louis.
Born September 29, 1924, at Ridgley, Tennessee to the late William and Allie Howell Harris, he had lived in Scott County most of his life where he was employed in construction and has been associated with the McBride Realty Company in Paducah, KY. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church at Bertrand, MO, the DAV and was a US Army Veteran of World War II.
On April 7, 1967, he married Berniece Shaw, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: two sons, Robert Dale Harris of Charleston and Norman Dale Manker of Sikeston; two daughters, Tonya Harris of Sikeston and Donna Medlock of Zalma, MO; two brothers, Frank Harris of Flint, MI and Bob Harris of Bertrand; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ivory Harris, Dalton Harris, Thomas Harris and Jessie Harris; four sisters, Mary Johnson, Mayme Fincher, Gladys Deal and Louvee Harris and by two granddaughters, Tonya Manker and Kristie Medlock.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2011. David Cullen, pastor of the Cornerstone Church at Bertrand, will officiate.
Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program.
Pallbearers will be: Willie Harris, Glenn Harris, Robert Harris, James Harris, Bill Harris and David Stephens.
