James Ray "Slick" Sheriff Jr., age 70, of Sikeston, MO, died Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Clearview Nursing Center.

Born July 9, 1954, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to the late James Roy Sheriff Sr. and Margie James Sheriff, he lived in Sikeston most of his life.    He was an electrician and carpenter.

James loved the Lord and was of the Baptist belief. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and just being outdoors.

He was married to Janet Groves of East Prairie for 18 years and she survives.

Surviving are his daughters; Melissa Sheriff of Forest, Arkansas and Scarlett (Nicholas) Rice of Sikeston, MO; his brother, Rodney Sheriff of Louisiana; his sister, Stella Gallagher of Michigan; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time for the memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  Keith Cook will officiate.
