JAY WHITESIDE
JAMES FRANKLIN 'JAY' WHITESIDE, Age 83, died Friday, April 1, 2016, at his home in Cape Girardeau.
Born August 8, 1932, at Sikeston, MO, to the late Ralph and Reba E. Hargrave Whiteside, he was a 1950 graduate of Charleston High School. Following his graduation, he was employed with Farm-all and MIT in Charleston. In 1964, he and his wife moved to Cape Girardeau where he was employed with Roland Machinery Heavy Equipment Company until his retirement. After his retirement, he was a driver for B.A.R.T. He attended the Cowboy Church at Oak Ridge.
On March 1, 1958, he married Freda Jean Dick, who preceded him in death on June 5, 2012.
Surviving is one son, Daniel (Dawn R. Gribler) Whiteside of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Jackie (Barbara) Whiteside of Charleston, one daughter in-law Toni Whiteside of Flowery Branch, GA; and one grandson, Tyson Whiteside.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James David Whiteside and one sister, Orpha Lucille Whiteside.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Ray Duffey of Cape Girardeau, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Darren Dick, Matt Whiteside, Ryan Whiteside, John Russo, Dennis Miller and Jim Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be: James Howard, Jack Hurt, Sam Brown, Lyndal Barron, Russell Hargrave, Jim Brown and Mike Brown.
