James Wayne Woody, age 68, of Morehouse, died Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Stonecrest Nursing Center in Viburnum, MO.

Born September 2, 1954, at Blytheville, AR, to the late Joe Elmer Woody and Vernie Davis Woody, he had lived in the Sikeston area most of his life.  He was first employed with DK Lape Farms and later Pearson Farms.

On July 14, 1973, he married his best friend, Ellen Louise Freeland, who survives of the home.

Also surviving is his son, Justin Decale (Lucinda Kay) Woody of Morehouse; his granddaughter, Emma Grace Woody; two sisters, Kathy Wilson of Dexter and Tricia Allen of MN; also, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.  Graveside services will follow immediately after at the Matthews Cemetery.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.
