Jan Wilson

Hazel Janiece "Jan" Wilson, age 94, formerly of Vienna, IL, died Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the Charleston Manor Nursing Home.

Born April 19, 1929, in Clay County, Arkansas, to the late Clinen Cox and Zella Mae Davis Cox, she grew up in Arkansas and later moved to Chicago, IL, where she lived a number of years and worked  as a beautician.  She later moved to Vienna, IL to be near her daughter, and then on to Charleston, MO,  to be near her sisters as her health declined.

Surviving is her daughter, Shirley Smith of Vienna, IL; her grandchildren, Shelley, Thomas and Daniel; her great grandchildren, John, Brianna, Evan, Genevieve, Thomas, III., and Dominic; her brother, Garry (Susan) Cox of Charleston; her sisters, Virginia (Rev. Ted) Wimberley of Medina, TN and Carolyn Shaw of Valdosta, GA; also, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Barry Allan Wilson; and her sisters, Geraldine "Geri" Dean, Lola Doty and Barbara Duty.

Family and friends may assemble for graveside services at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Piggott Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas.  Her brother in law, Ted Wimberley, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston, MO.
