Janet "Susie" Chandler, age 72, passed away on July 13, 2017 at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas following an extended illness.
She was born on September 10, 1944 in Charleston, Missouri to the late Orville and Lucille James Smith.
Janet grew up in Anniston, Missouri and graduated from Anniston High School in 1962. After high school, she attended Sikeston Public Schools Practical Nurse program in Sikeston, Missouri where she obtained her license as a LPN in 1971. She was employed by Sells Rest Home in Matthews, Missouri where she worked for 14 years, before obtaining her Nursing Home Administrator License. She was employed as the Administrator for Miner Nursing Center in Miner, Missouri for 6 years.
Janet married Robert F. Chandler in 1990 in Gatlinburg,Tennessee. She moved to Texarkana, Arkansas in 1993 where she was employed by Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Ashdown, Arkansas for 17 years before retiring in 2011. Janet put her whole heart into everything she did and lived life to the fullest. She loved being a nurse and dedicated her life to the elderly.
Janet is survived by her spouse, Robert Chandler, of Texarkana, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Dwayne Green of Texarkana, Texas; one granddaughter, Leah Green, of Texarkana, Texas; one grandson, Logan Green, of Texarkana, Texas; one brother, Jim Smith, of Sikeston, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Chester Carl Smith.
The family will be receive friends and relatives from 2-4 p.m, Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
