Janet Navarete Colvett, 60, a resident of Matthews, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She was born in St. Louis March 4, 1954 to the late Clyde and Navarete (Odle) Pruiett. A resident of the Matthews area for the past 14 years, she previously resided in Crockett, Mississippi and Caruthersville, MO. She was a member of the Matthews Church of Christ and had worked as a secretary at Ferguson Medical Group and later at Lee Hunter and the 5th & and 6th Grade schools in Sikeston. On Feb. 9, 1991 she was married to Jimmy D. Colvett at Caruthersville and he survives of the home. Also surviving are 1 son, Jeffrey (Amanda) Ferrell of Hernando, MS, 3 step-sons, Mark (Lois) Colvett of Southhaven, MS, Jeffrey (Becky) Colvett of Drummonds, TN and John (Joy) Colvett of Springfield, MO. One step-daughter Sherra (Randy) Jackson of O'Fallon, MO, one son-in-law, Jason Spencer of Sarah, MS; her step mother, Mary Ann Pruiett of Caruthersville; and 2 brothers, Ricky Odle of Rome, GA and Freddie Pruiett of Blytheville, AR. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Navarete Ferrell and Jeanae Spencer; 1 grandson, Alexander Spencer; 1 brother, Larry Clyde Pruiett and 1 sister Deborah Ann Onley. Visitation will be held at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5 until 8 pm Friday, Dec. 12. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday in the Blanchard Chapel with Mike McDaniel, minister at Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville officiating. Burial will follow at Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville. Pallbearers will be Ben McDonald, Jeremy Colvett, Jarrett, Qualls, Will Pruiett, Chuck Mayes and Aaron Mayes.
