Janet Ruth Harp, daughter of the late Lawrence Edward Pfifer and Sybil Harmon Pfifer, departed this life on July 28, 2020 at her home in Morehouse at the age of 75.  Born on October 20, 1944 in Sikeston, Missouri, she was one of 12 children and was a very good, loving mother.  A longtime resident of Morehouse, many in the community knew her as Granny.

Janet retired from the housekeeping department at Sikeston Health Care, where she was honored as an Employee of the Month in recognition of her very generous heart and compassion.

A self-taught poet and songwriter, she used her pen to celebrate those she cared about and to express herself, often writing on the themes of love, heartache, and spirituality.

In 2000 she won the Airplay International King Eagle Golden Pen award for her hard work and dedication to the world of music.

Janet loved singing along to her favorite songs, enjoying the sun, fishing, family get-togethers, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchilden.

She leaves behind three daughters, Angela McIntyre of Wappapello, Sonya Dixon of Morehouse, and Tina Avery of Sikeston; seven sisters, Sue Martin and Priscilla Pfifer of Sikeston, Barbara McIntyre, Cindy Moore, and Robin Grimes of Morehouse, Taleca Hall of Bertrand, and Penny Fields of Dexter; as well as one brother, Eddie Pfifer of Wyatt.  Janet is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Natasha, Christopher, Daniel, Ryan, Macy, Tyler, Breanna, Destiny, Zachary, Erin, and Brennan; and 2 great-grandchildren, Brody and Andrew.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Lawrence Edward Pfifer and Sybil Harmon Pfifer; two sisters, Pat Layne and Lockie Pfifer; and one brother, Morris Pfifer.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.  Rev. J. Robert Webster, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m., Saturday at the Shiloh Cemetery in Shook, MO under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be Chris Teague, Daniel Dixon, John Avery, Clay Greer, Tony Kiser, Chris Kiser, Brandon Wade, and Jerrad Pfifer.
