Obituary

Janice Elizabeth Crisel Summers, age 74, died Monday, September 30, 2024, at her home in Charleston.

Born March 12, 1950, in Buffalo, NY, to the late Elvin Arthur Putzke and Jeanne Sarah Hovey Putzke, she moved to Missouri in 1969.  Janice was a member of the Sikeston Eagles and served as a Brownie and Scout Leader for many years.  She loved to sew and knit and was a member of the "Happy Hookers" Knitting Club that met for several years at the Charleston Nutrition Center. Janice was of United Methodist Belief.

Surviving are her children, Ray Ross (Brandy Smith) Crisel, Jr., William Arthur (Billy) Crisel, Sherry Lynn Crisel Austin and EnnaJeanne Lee (Delmar) Shipp; 20 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; Janice is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Daniel Leonard Putzke and Lois Lewellyn Putzke of Norfolk, VA; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son in law, Stephen Bruce Austin.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.   Rev. Scott Moon, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Charleston, will officiate.

McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
