Jason Lee Pickett, age 45, died of a massive heart attack Monday, May 11, 2026, at his home in Bertrand, MO.
Born April 18, 1981, at Sikeston, MO, to Richard Earl Pickett and Karen Faye Meeks Pickett Groves, he had lived in Bertrand most of his life. Jason was raised in the First General Baptist Church in Charleston under his grandfather, Rev. Bill Meeks. He attended Charleston High School and later obtained his GED.
Jason was an avid music lover and felt most understood through the songs he listened to. He loved to cook, and his food was actually edible. He loved baseball and played throughout his school career. He loved spending time outdoors and participated in Boy Scouts during his childhood. Jason was a loyal friend and believed in taking responsibility for your own actions. For much of his life he fought a battle with addiction but overcame that battle in the last years of his life, which was taken too soon. Most importantly, he loved his mom, children, and grandson with everything he had to give.
Surviving is his daughter, Jaycie Michelle Bolden; his son, Richard Lee Pickett; his grandson, Carson Alexander Phillips; his mother, Karen Meeks Groves (Paul Swinney); his aunt, Jennifer Presson; his uncles, Garry Meeks and Daniel “Boo” Meeks (Jackie); and a number of cousins.
Jason was preceded in death by his father, Ricky Pickett; his uncle, Tony Lee Pickett; his maternal grandparents, Rev. Bill and Lora Mae Maxwell Meeks and his paternal grandparents, Lee Doyle Pickett and Jackie Thurman (Billy) Borders.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2026, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Jason will be buried at a later date with his father at the Anniston Cemetery.
