Obituary

J.B. McClendon, age 90, of Anniston, MO, died Friday, January 14, 2022, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.

He was born May 19, 1931, at Anniston, to the late Jesse Mack McClendon and Karen Gardner McClendon and had lived near Anniston most of his life.   He served in the U.S. Army and completed his tenure of military service a total of 16 years in the Missouri Army National Guard.   He was first employed with McTigue Construction and later worked a number of years with the Bunge Company until his retirement.

On April 18, 1954, he married Joyce E. Hamill, who died November 18, 2022.

Also surviving is his son, Kenny (Kay) McClendon of Clarksville, GA; his grandchildren, Shannon Bowles, Jeremy Michael Bohannon, Jessica Renick, Josh McClendon and Kaytilyn Courson; 12 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild on the way; two nephews, Stacey McClendon and Ryan McClendon; and to best friends, Jerry Dyer and Jamie Gilmore.

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Lynn McClendon Bohannon and his brother, Bill McClendon.

Joyce Evelyn Hamill McClendon, age 87, of Anniston, died Friday, November 18, 2022, at the Bertrand Nursing and Rehab Center in Bertrand, MO.

Joyce was born June 19, 1935, at Cairo, IL, to the late Bill Hamill and Irene Cowser Hamill and had lived in the Anniston area most of her life.   For was first employed as a cook at the Anniston High School and then went to work with the New Dawn State School in Sikeston where she was employed many years until her retirement.  She was a member of the Nazerene Church.

On April 18, 1954, she married J.B. McClendon, who preceded her in death on January 14, 2022.

Surviving is her son, Kenny (Kay) McClendon of Clarksville, GA; her grandchildren, Shannon Bowles, Jeremy Michael Bohannon, Jessica Renick, Josh McClendon and Kaytilyn Courson; twelve great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; her brother, Eddie Hamill and her sisters, Linda Sullivan and Willa Upchurch.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Vickie Lynn Bohannon.

J.B. and Joyce would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary, April 18, 2023, so they will be laid to rest in a combined graveside service at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the Anniston Cemetery.  Rev. Martin Lucas will officiate.

Everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
