Jonas Benjamin Stanback, officially known as "J.B.", was born August 20, 1957, in Charleston, Missouri to Ethel Lee Hines and Charles Louis Stanback and went to his Eternal Home, Monday, October 1, 2024, from the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was one of eleven siblings from his mother, seven boys and four girls and three from his father, two boys and one girl.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Johnson and his sister, Priscilla Johnson Haynes; his maternal grandparents, Tony and Samella Hines by whom he was raised; his nephew, Tyrese Bryant; his niece, Charlene Jackson and his brother-in-law, Tyrone Sheron.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Lototia Stanback; four daughters, Naeisha S. Stanback, Aniyah A. Mitchell, Samyah K. Mitchell and Cora Carter.Four sons, Mikey Ewing, Jonas Carter, Damontrel Carter and Latroy Carter; 13 grandchildren and one great granddaughter and one the one on the way.
J.B. is also survived by six brothers, Charles 'Red' Glasco, Charles Stanback, Luther Hines, Danny Hines, James (Shawna) Murray and Timothy (Malissa) Murray; four sisters, Heather Stanback, Mary Murray, Carolyn Hines and Claudette Evans; his brothers in law, Michael Sheron, Orlandues Sheron, Hershel Wiley and Raymond Mitchell; sisters in law, Alexis (Michael) White, Marvetta (Thomas) Wrathey and Tashia (Devlin) Lankford; also a special uncle, Jodie Hines and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
J.B. loved watching the television show "Family Feud", "In the Heat of the Night" and talking and texting on the phone with his work brother, Amos Richardson.
He was employed with A.C. Riley Cotton Gin since 1995.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the United Methodist Church, 1700 East Marshall Street in Charleston. Pastor Darren Horrell of Charleston will officiate.
Musical selections will be offered by Ms. Lillie B. Smith, Jimmie Mitchell and the Biles Twins. A reading will be done by Mr. DeMichael McCray.
McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
